"Verify Your Capacitor MFD." While many 1/2 HP motors use a 5 MFD or 7.5 MFD capacitor, you must check the label on the new P257-8587 and match it exactly. Using an old capacitor or one with the wrong rating will cause the new motor to run hot, draw high amps, and eventually fail prematurely. Always install a new capacitor with every motor replacement for maximum longevity. Take a photo of the original wiring harness before disconnecting to ensure the speed taps (Black, Blue, Red) are re-connected to the correct terminals on your control board.

Had a power outage last night and during the 100 degree heat today noticed that the AC was not blowing any cold air. Pulled the capacitors to have them checked and also took video of the relay making noise even with the breaker was off. The proprietor and her staff were very friendly and helpful.
