🛠️ HVAC Depot Pro Tip: The Liquid Phase Rule

Because R-407C is a zeotropic blend with "temperature glide," it must always be removed from the cylinder in the liquid phase (cylinder upside down or using a dip tube) to prevent fractionation. If charged as a vapor, the chemical balance of the refrigerant will change, leading to poor system performance. Additionally, ensure the system contains POE (Polyolester) oil, as R-407C will not return mineral oil to the compressor.

Had a power outage last night and during the 100 degree heat today noticed that the AC was not blowing any cold air. Pulled the capacitors to have them checked and also took video of the relay making noise even with the breaker was off. The proprietor and her staff were very friendly and helpful. She had the video analyzed and confirmed something was wrong. She checked one of the capacitors was a little low. Capacitor replacement is the biggest ticket item for HVAC repair.
